In a first, 3-Dimensional (3D) impressions for yoga will be displayed at Sukhna Lake in the run-up to the International Yoga Day event on June 21.

Chandigarh Deputy Commissioner Ajit Balaji Joshi said a 16-ft structure would be raised at Sukhna Lake where the screens, with the help of 3D technology, will display yoga asanas, detailing its benefits and other information.

“A story — Yoga the three of life of seven minutes — will be displayed on the raised structures. 3D technology would be used so that people who come at Sukhna Lake also get to see yoga with the special effects. An organisation has been finalised for the task,” said Joshi. The show will begin at 7 pm.

There is also ‘Yoga on wheels’ competition too. This is a skating competition that will be held on June 11 at 6 pm at Sukhna Lake Road.

All these events will be part of Chandigarh Yoga festival, which will begin on June 9 and go till June 12.

Another attraction of the festival will be ‘moonlight yoga’ that will be held at parade ground in Sector 17, 7 pm onwards on June 10. The inaugural event on June 9 will see the participation of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar at 7 pm at parade ground Sector 17 here. Yoga guru Ramdev will take part in the concluding event on June 12, 7 pm onwards. There will be a ‘run for yoga’ event at 5.30 am on June 12.

The Deputy Commissioner said many international and national scholars would be present during the festival.

Till date, around 46,000 people have registered for the main event on June 21, International Yoga Day, said officials. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the event.

Joshi said around 30,000 would be able to make it to the main event. “ A committee will be doing the selection procedure as the capitol complex can accommodate 30,000 people,” he added.
