GREATER NOIDA: Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has received the formal proposal on Wednesday from Yoga guru Baba Ramdev for setting up Patanjali Ayurved. The proposal has been forwarded by the state government to YEIDA along with a request for several concessions asked for by Ramdev for the project. YEIDA is examining the proposal in detail and will be reverting to the government immediately, officials said.According to YEIDA officials, Ramdev has asked for 45% reduction in land rates. “Ramdev’s aide Balkrishna has urged the state government to allot 1,000 acres of land in the Yamuna expressway area for Patanjali Ayurved,” Amarnath Upadhayay, Additional CEO (ACEO), YEIDA told TOI. “The Haridwar-based FMCG company promoted by the yoga guru, plans to invest Rs 1,200 crore in a manufacturing facility,” he explained. “Today we have received the formal proposal forwarded to us by the government,” he said.
ACEO further said that besides asking for a reduction in land cost, Ramdev has also urged the government to consider accepting the land cost in installments in a 15 year period. “They have also asked us to consider giving the benefit of a 7% simple interest to be charged as against the 12% that we charge,” Upadhayay said. “Besides these concessions, there are few other allowances asked for, which we are considering,” he said. “We will now examine the request in detail before we submit our reply to the government,” he said. “There will be no delay in our response and we will respond sooner than later,” he added.
According to YEIDA officials, Ramdev has prepared a comprehensive plan for the development of health, education, agriculture and industry. “We expect employment generation for thousands apart from investment. The land required for the proposed project has been identified in sectors 22E, 24 and 24A of YEIDA,” Upadhayay said.
In fact, the proposal includes 75-100 acres of land for Patanjali Ayurved in Sector 22E of YEIDA for setting up an export house, corporate office and administration block. In addition, they require 300 acres of land in Sector 24 attached with a 120-metre road of Yamuna Expressway, along with a side road of 100-metre for a processing unit and warehouse.
This unit will house a plant for manufacturing biscuits, cosmetics, ready-to-serve food, pickles, candy, etc. This plant will be developed with an investment of about Rs 750 crore, officials said. Ramdev also plans to set up Divya Yog Mandir Trust across 100 acres of land for establishing a processing unit of Divya Pharmacy, which will include an extraction unit, oil unit and an ayurvedic medicine unit.
YEIDA has also been directed to earmark 200 acres of land for an Ayurvedic hospital, naturopathy and research centre. Another 300 acres of green or agricultural land will be used for research to be conducted on cows, dairy products, organic food, cattle feed and farming activities. The investment for this part of the project is Rs 525 crore.
