Madhya Pradesh official under fire for ‘FB post against Jain monk’

A senior government official in Madhya Pradesh is facing trouble for allegedly criticising Jain monk Tarun Sagar, who recently addressed the Haryana assembly.

The Jain community in Damoh, where the monk was born, approached police and the district collector seeking action against chief executive officer of Damoh district panchayat J C Jatiya, alleging that he used offensive language against the monk in his Facebook posts.

The complaint alleged Jatiya used a different name but the account had his personal details and photographs. When contacted, Jatia said he was indeed using the account, but denied using offensive language against the monk. He said he had only shared a post criticising the monk for speaking against reservation.

Kotwali police station in-charge S S Rajput said they have forwarded the complaint to the cyber cell. Collector Shrinivas Sharma said his response would depend on the probe’s outcome.
