Tiruvadippudi Utsavam commences in Sri Govind Swamy Temple

Tirupati, 17 July, 2017: Sri Andal Tiruvadippudi Utsavam commenced in Sri Govindaraja Swamy temple Tirupati on Monday in a religious manner. This ten day festival will conclude on July 26.

The significance of this festival is that Andal Sri Godai was born in the auspicious day on the advent of Uttara Phalguni star in Adi month in Srivilliputtur in Tamilnadu, which is considered most sacred and important for Srivaishnavaites.

In the famous and ancient shrine of Sri Govindaraja Swamy, this festival is being observed from the past several centuries in such a way, the ten day fete concludes on Uttara Phalguni Star. Since this festival takes place in the month of Adi, it is called “Tiruvadippudi Utsavam”. Every day Tirumanjanam will be performed to Andal between 6am and 6:30am followed by celestial procession in mada steets between 5:30pm and 6:30pm.

Meanwhile the other prominent days during this fete includes, Rohini Asthanam on July 20, Sukravara Asthanam on July 21, Snapana Tirumanjanam to Sri Govindaraja Swamy and Andal in connection with the final day fete on July 26 will be observed.

CHAKRATTALWAR SATTUMORA ON JULY 23

Another important fete which is being observed in the temple of Sri Govindaraja Swamy with utmost religious fervour is “Chakrattalwar Sattumora” which falls on July 23 this year. Sri Prativadi Bhayankara Annan Sattumora will also be observed on the same day.

The importance of this fete is that the sacred disc weapon of Lord Maha Vishnu-the Sudarshana Chakrattalwar was consecrated in Sri Govindaraja Swamy temple in the auspicious day coinciding with star Pushyami in the first Gopuram of the temple . Following the significance of the day, the Lord Sri Govindaraja Swamy flanked by his two consorts along with Chakrattalwar take celestial procession. The procession of Andal Godai will also be observed afterwards.

Sri Prativadi Bhayankara Annan is a great Sri Vaishnava Acharya who penned the famous “Suprabhatam” and also commentaries for Sri Bhashyam, Sri Bhagavatam etc. Following his birth on this auspicious day in Pushyami Star of Adi month, Sattumora is observed. Sri Varadaraja Swamy and Sri Prativadi Bhayankara Annan utsava murties will be taken on a celestial procession on this day.
