Ettumanur temple fest begins with Kodiyettu | The Hindu
The ten-day annual festival at Ettumanur Sri Mahadevar Temple got under way with the hoisting of the flag at the auspicious ‘muhoortham’ between 8 a.m. and 8-45 a.m. on Sunday.
Tantri Kandararu Rajivaru and Melsanthi Raman Sanakumar led the ceremonies in connection with the Kodiyettu.
The Kodiyettu ceremony was followed by the commencement of cultural programmes. The arts festival was inaugurated by actor Manoj K. Jayan.
The high point of the festival is the Ezhara ponnana darshan and Valiakanicka, scheduled for March 5, the eighth day of the festival. The Aarattu and Kodiyrakkam have been scheduled for March 7.
There will be Ulsava balidarshana every day from day two to the Pallivetta day, falling on the ninth day of the festival.
Festival days three, four and five will have Kathakali recital by Kottackal PSV Naatya Sanghom.
Other major cultural programmes include Panchari Melam by Mattannur Sankarankutty; dance recital being presented by actor Rachana Narayanankutty and team and devotional music recital by Anoop shanker and Roopa Revathy.
More than a 100 artists are participating in the cultural programmes being presented as offerings.
