PG students in Rajasthan to get management lessons from Gita – Times of India

JAIPUR: Management techniques drawn from Bhagwad Gita, Ramayana and Arthashastra would now be part of curriculum for postgraduate courses like commerce and management in colleges affiliated to the Rajasthan University.

Officials said students would get management lessons derived from Hindu god Krishna’s conversation with Arjun before the Kurukshetra battle, and Lord Rama’s victory over Ravan with the help of vanara sena (army of monkeys).

“Lord Krishna has beautifully explained the concept of division of labour, motivation, authority , responsibility and leadership qualities,” said Naveen Mathur, who heads the RU’s curriculum revision panel.

University officials said changes in the curriculum are part of its efforts to “Indianise” higher education.

Chapters on philosophies of Swami Vivekanand and Mahatma Gandhi have replaced that of foreign authors like Robert Owen and James Burnham.
