Idol of goddess Kali immersed in river Ganga
VARANASI: The idol of goddess Kali was immersed into river Ganga at Dashaswamedh Ghat amidst tight security arrangements on Wednesday night.Navsangh, a social organisation, organises Kali Puja in highly-sensitive Devnathpura every year.
Tight security arrangements were made on the route between Devnathpura and Godowlia area for the immersion procession.
Devotees in ahuge number participated in the procession. They danced on drum beats as they bid adeiu to the goddess.
District administration officials were present at Godowlia Crossing to monitor the security arrangements. Heavy police force and PAC was also deployed along the route of procession.
The procession reached the crossing at 6:53 pm and the idol was immersed into the Ganga on Wednesday night.
