‘Serthi Sevai’ to Sri Namperumal and Sri Kamalavalli Naachiyar | The Hindu
A large number of devotees offered worship to Sri Namperumal and Sri Kamalavalli Naachiyar on the occasion of ‘Serthi Sevai’ at the Arulmigu Kamalvalli Nachiyar temple at Woraiyur here on Tuesday.
Sri Namperumal — the processional deity of Srirangam Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple — was carried on a palanquin from the sanctum sanctum in the early hours to Woraiyur temple via Cauvery river.
The idol was taken around various streets in Woraiyur area and reached the Sri Kamavalli Nachiyar temple thereafter.
Holy gifts were presented to Sri Namperumal before the idol entered the Woraiyur shrine.
The idols of Sri Namperumal and Sri Kamalavalli Naachiyar were taken to the Serthi Mandapam at the Woraiyur temple for Serthi Sevai as part of the ‘Panguni Uthram’ festival.
The Serthi Sevai coincides with Ayilya star in the Tamil month Panguni.
After completion of Serthi Sevai, the processional idol of Sri Namperumal was taken back to Srirangam temple late in the night.
