Run-up to International yoga day: Session during full moon
IF YOU want to do yoga under the light of full moon, just drop at Parade Ground at Sector 17 on June 11 at 8 pm. In the run-up to International Yoga Day on June 21, the Chandigarh administration will organise a one-hour long yoga session in the moonlight as part of a four-day yoga fest.
The session will be open for the general public. Sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Kriti Garg, nodal officer of the yoga fest, said the session would be held by a Dubai-based expert, who has been holding such sessions in different countries.
The venue will be illuminated with candles only.
The yoga fest will begin on June 9 with an event of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar at Parade Ground. A 3D multimedia show will be organised on June 10 at Sukhna Lake. The fest will conclude with an event of yoga guru Ramdev on June 12. June 5 is the last date for registration.
“Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and Ramdev will be delivering talks and will not do yoga,” said Kirti Garg. ”
Besides, a three-day yoga academic conclave will also be held.
The Ministry of Ayush will fund the main event on which around Rs 8 crore is expected to be spent. The administration has raised funds for the different activities scheduled to be held during Yoga Fest through sponsorships.
UT adviser Parimal Rai Wednesday held a review meeting in which officials of Chandigarh administration, armed forces, Punjab and Haryana governments were present. Rai asked the officials to provide a list of those who will take part in the main event to be held at Capitol Complex by June 6 so that a layout plan can be prepared.
