Khadi Board launches special wear for ‘Shravan Kanvarias’ | The Pioneer

Devotees planning for a kanwariya trip this year may finally take a sigh of relief for they will have an option to choose between low quality saffron wear selling in the markets and the specially designed Orange coloured garments for sharvani mela visitors. The Jharkhand State Khadi Board on Saturday launched special attires for both men and women – the specially knitted orange coloured garments — that will be made available for public on discounted rates.

Chairman of Jharkhand State Khadi and Village Industries Board Sanjay Seth said, “It happened for the first time that they had designed garments for the devotees of Deoghar. The price of set of khadi garment for males is Rs 1200 and that for females is Rs 900 each with the discount of 25 per cent.”

“We will set up a stall at Mitra College in Deoghar where all the prominent items will be available from the first Monday of Shravan.  As many as 10 solar charkhas will also be brought on trial basis. Since a number of people had shown their lots of interest in the business of khadi the Jharkhand Khadi Board has decided to give them the franchise of Jharkhand  Khadi,” he added.

The Khadi board will also open eight sewing centers where women will be trained for a period of six months and Rs 1500 will be also given to them on monthly basis. The board has been provided with a huge place at Ranchi Airport, where several new items including perfumes, soaps etc would be put in the stock.

Seth said that one of the major attractions for the board was the huge sale of ‘Tasar Rakhi’ in Gujarat.  “Delhi showroom of Jharkhand Khadi has given a good sale. So, we are planning to open a showroom in Ahemdabad also,” he said.
