Attack on a hindu family at broad daylight in Bagerhat

Though we are helpless poor, live on fishing, don’t bother anyone, they attack our houses with sticks and weapons at broad daylight, looted, didn’t leave the girls also remain untouched, beat them, they tried to grab forcefully like the bandits the land on which we a have been living for years. Can’t we live? we are here to you(Journalists) after being helpless. We want justice to PM.

Karuna Biswas, a 65 yr old lady burst into tears saying many more things like that at a press conferrence arranged Bagerhat press club on Saturday. Many other people along with her husband 75 yr old Sadananda Malo(Biswas), Archana Biswas(63), and her disabled son Sumant Biswas(38) also crying sitting beside her.

Last Wednsday, after a sudden attack to usurp their paternal home of Munigonj Malopada in Bagerhat city, Narayan Biswas, son of Karuna Biswas arranged the press conferrence. A group of people lead by BNP leader Shahin vandalized their houses and looted their property at broad daylight. They also beated all the protester including women and childs.

The grabbers want to make a wall by demolishing the households of the minority people by misguiding the police and sudden attack. But there is no permission from the Municipality to build the wall, so the construction work was stopped by the order of the Mayor- also told in the press conferrence. This helpless family requested to save their property from the “Hanger and landgrabbers”.
