Hindu activists protest screening of ‘Mastizaade’ – The Hindu

Activists of Hindu Takht thrash a security guard outside a mall

Activists of Hindu Takht reportedly thrashed a security guard outside a mall at Old Court Chowk here today. The activists led by Varun Mehta, head preacher of Hindu Takht, were present there to oppose the screening of movie  ‘Mastizaade’. Varun Mehta said they had objection on a scene showing a condom advertisement in Kali Mata Mandir.
Heavy police security was deployed outside the mall to avoid any untoward incident. The activists raised slogans and protested against the multiplex.

They were demanding entry into the multiplex to remove the posters and stop the screening of the movie. Meanwhile, the activists entered into a scuffle with a security guard of the mall. They thrashed the guard and tore his uniform. However, Varun Mehta alleged that the guard tore his clothes.

Mehta said, “We were protesting peacefully and negotiating with the mall authorities. They even agreed to cut the objectionable scene. But the security guard abused our activists to provoke them. There was a minor scuffle with the guard and we did not file a police complaint against him.”

The police officials informed that they did not receive any complaint so no action was taken. The multiplex authorities removed the objectionable scene from the movie. Meanwhile, the city police strengthened the security of all the multiplexes and cinemas in the city, where the movie is being screened.
