Yoga can help keep kids away from tobacco: Governor Paul
“Students and youngsters must be saved from ill effects of tobacco, which is a silent killer. It is the responsibility of teachers to make students constantly aware of bad habits like tobacco consumption,” said Paul. The governor was speaking at a programme organised by the World Lung Foundation (South Asia) and the state government at Rajiv Gandhi Navodyaya Vidyalaya, Tapovan, where he was the chief guest.
Paul also called upon the state education department officials to ensure that children in schools in Uttarakhand were encouraged to take up yoga, which would build their willpower and keep them away from bad habits.
“Yoga and pranayam should be encouraged in schools and educational institutions which would help children avoid such addictions and enable them to find the right direction in life,” Paul said while appreciating the efforts of World Lung Foundation towards making the state tobacco-free.
