Times Now fined Rs 50K by NBSA on Jasleen Kaur controversy, asked to carry apology – Janta Ka Reporter

The News channel Times Now has been penalised by News Broadcasting Standards Authority Rs 50,000 for not maintaining neutrality while airing the interview with Sarabjit Singh, accused in Jasleen Kaur eve teasing case.

According to the NBSA directive, Times Now is required to broadcast the following apology;

We regret that while reporting the interview of Mr Sarabjit Singh, who is accused of eve-teasing by Ms Jasleen Kaur, on 24.08.2015,  we had failed to comply with Code of Ethics and Broadcasting Standards of NBA requiring broadcasters to maintain neutrality, impartiality, accuracy and fairness and also failed to follow the specific guidelines of NBSA relating to reportage of matters under investigation.

The NBSA has also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 against Times Now.

Jasleen Kaur, allegedly a member of Aam Aadmi Party, had accused Singh of eve teasing while waiting at a traffic junction in Delhi in August last year.
