SC refuses to give protection from arrest to Vishal Dadlani over ‘naked’ comment on Jain monk Tarun Sagar | Zee News

Mumbai: In more trouble for vocal backer of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Vishal Dadlani, the Supreme Court on Wednesday refused to grant protection from arrest to the Bollywood music director for allegedly making scathing remarks against Digambar Jain monk Tarun Sagar.

A bench of Justices V Gopala Gowda and Adarsh Kumar Goel also declined Dadlani’s prayer for quashing of FIR lodged against him in Haryana, saying he could approach the concerned high court.

An FIR was lodged against Dadlani by the Ambala Cantt police for allegedly hurting religious sentiments with his sarcastic tweet on the Jain monk.

Dadlani had stirred a controversy after he mocked the Digambar Jain guru for making a speech in Haryana Assembly, naked. (The monks in Digambara sect of Jainism do not wear clothes, as a symbol of shunning worldly possessions and indifference to earthly emotions.)

Dadlani had tweeted against the Jain leader addressing the Haryana assembly last month.

Following widespread criticism, Dadlani apologised and also quit the Aam Aadmi Party.
