Anonymous devotee donates two kg gold armour to temple in Tirumala – The New Indian Express

TIRUPATI: An anonymous devotee has donated a gold armour weighing two kilograms, a silver Padma Peetam weighing seven kilograms and silver crowns weighing two kilos to Sri Bhu Varaha Swamy temple in Tirumala on Sunday.

Another silver pedestal weighing two kilograms for Utsavavarulu was also donated to the temple.

The armour is for Bhoo Varahaswamy, which is a small idol when compared to other deities in the Tirumala temple and all sub-temples.

The Padma Peetham is for Snapana Thirumanjanam for processional deities of main temple. During the Brahmotsavams, Snapana Thirumanjanam is considered very sacred and pooja is performed for three days during the nine-day schedule of the Brahmotsavam. Therefore, the donor requested to use the Padma Peetham for the purpose of Snapana Thirumanjanam, temple sources said.

Meanwhile, officials said the value of the donation is more than `1 crore and it was good to receive such valuable donation on the day of ‘Varaha Jayanthi’.

Interestingly, the devotee had left the donation in the temple and left without taking any receipts, they said.

The annual Varaha Jayanti fete was celebrated with religious fervour at the Sri Bhu Varaha Swamy Temple located adjacent to Swami Pushkarini on the north side of Tirumala shrine on Sunday.

The fete started with the ceremonial Kalasa Sthapana, Kalasa Puja, Punyahavachanam, followed by the Snapana Thirumanjanam.

Speaking on the occasion, TTD Chairman Ch Krishnamurthy, said, every year TTD celebrates this fete as per agamas.

“It has been an age old practice that every devotee should first pay visit to this temple in Tirumala before having darshan of Lord Venkateswara as the hill town is known as Adi Varaha Kshetra,” he added.
