Ramdev writes to HRD ministry demanding vedic education board – Times of India
Confirming the news, Patanjali Yogpeeth general secretary Acharya Bal Krishna, said, “Blending the tradition with modern ideologies, the board’s syllabus will have vedas, puranas, upanishadas and also modern sciences.
“For example, ‘Acharyakulam’ has been set up at Patanjali Yogpeeth on the pattern of old gurukuls. Here, equal emphasis is laid on teaching modern sciences, yoga and vedic literature,” Acharya said.
Acharyakulam is a school based on vedic-cum-modern education near Patanjali Yogpeeth, Haridwar. It is a residential educational institution and is affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The schools offers education to students from grades 5th to 12th. Patanjali Yogapeeth has plans to set up 600 Acharyakulams across the country.”Education at Acharyakulam is synonymous with character-building, which means inculcating in children the cherished Indian values of life. They learn to keep pace with time and are in tune with contemporary social values,” Krishna said while speaking on behalf of Ramdev, who is on a US and Canada tour from August 18 to 28.
