Recognising the growing demand from the student community, the Acharya Nagarjuna University (ANU) will offer a post-graduation course in Yoga and Library Science from the new academic year, according to its Rector K.R.S. Sambasiva Rao.
Apart from the academic courses, the university wasalso planning to offer skill development courses for people without formal education in the State capital region, added Prof. Sambasiva Rao.
He was here to take part in a two-day seminar organised by the Social Work Department of the ANU P.G. Centre on ‘Mainstreaming marginalised communities in India: Challenges and interventions’.
Tadikonda MLA Tenali Sravan Kumar, who was instrumental in persuading the small and marginal farmers in accepting the Land Pooling System, said the interests of not only the farmers but also semi-skilled and unskilled people had been taken care of with a lot of foresight as transition to an urban agglomeration was expected to throw up psychological problems.
Seminar director M. Harsha Preetham Dev Kumar said 54 papers submitted by research scholars from across the country on issues concerning the SCs, STs, women, elderly people, differently abled and sexual minorities would be compiled into a book.
