Mira-Bhayander: Temples, mosques and churches are places of worship where people congregate to pray and foster better ties among their brethren. However, even devotees are not spared by robbers in the city. Three days after a theft was reported from outside a religious place of worship in Mira Road, sleuths of the Naya Nagar police arrested a 21-year-old youth on Friday for his alleged involvement in the crime. According to the police, they received a complaint from a devotee who was stunned to realise that his bag containing an expensive laptop was missing when he came out from the religious place after offering prayers. Police personnel intensified vigil and activated their informer network in the region. The accused ran out of luck when he revisited the spot and was apprehended by plainclothes policemen who were keeping a watch in the premises. “It appears to be his first crime. However, we are checking his background and trying to ascertain if he is involved in other cases.” said a police officer. While a case of theft has been registered, the police team has also recovered the stolen laptop from the possession of the accused.
