VADODARA: Police arrested an elderly woman on Tuesday for stealing valuables from a Jain temple around a month ago.
Rambha Prajapati, a widow, was caught in CCTV footage while stealing valuables from the temple near Swati Sports Complex in Sama. Prajapati, however, managed to escape from there with the valuables.
Police said that they asked the temple’s trustees to remain in touch with them since they suspected that Prajapati would come again to steal more valuables. The temple’s pujari identified Prajapati when she went again on Tuesday and he informed cops.
Sama police inspector M M Puwar said, “After arresting Prajapati we went to her New Sama Road where we found precious idols.” A local court sent Prajapati to police custody for two days on Wednesday.
