Yoga guru Ramdev on Saturday claimed he was once denied a visa by the United States because he did not have a bank account and was unmarried. “I still don’t have a bank account…but I was given a 10-year visa when invited by the United Nations,” he said.

Watch what else is making news:

Ramdev was speaking at the two-day Global Investors Summit organised by the Madhya Pradesh government here on Saturday. Claiming that Patanjali was clocking 100 per cent growth, which would soon be doubled, Ramdev revealed his plan to venture into the textile industry. He said he would engage industrial units that are lying idle. He said the media spoke only about jeans but, “I will make everything from coat to langot’’.

The yoga guru received a rousing reception when he rose to speak, but promised not to do “kapal bhati” and “anulom vilom”.

He praised Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley for his “smart look”. Stating that Jaitley had asked him in what
capacity he was attending the Indore meet, he said, “I am a global citizen’’.
Lauding Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for his simplicity, Ramdev also took a dig at him for wearing a
bandhgala. Addressing leading businessman Gopichand Hinduja, he said: “You are a Hinduja and I am Hindu’’.
