Toll on three Ujjain routes waived off – Times of India

Indore: State government has waived off toll tax on three routes connecting Ujjain for 90 days starting from Tuesday midnight ahead of Simhastha to facilitate movement of devotees coming for the mega religious congregation. About 5 crore devotees will attend Simhastha from April 22 to May 21.

Dewas-Ujjain-Badnawar (98 km), Ujjain-Jhalawar (134 km) and Ujjain-Simhastha bypass (14.5 km) are the three routes that have been exempted from toll tax till June 21, said Rakesh Jain, divisional manager, Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation, Ujjain.

“The waiver of toll tax is applicable on three routes which had the provision in their agreement and this would continue for 90 days,” said Jain. The toll tax exemption has not been made on Indore-Ujjain and Ujjain-Jaora routes due to contract specification because there was no provision.

Jain said, “Indore-Ujjain and Ujjain-Jaora routes are not included under the toll-free zones because their agreements have no provision for any such exemption.”
