Namami Gange on Uttrakhand CM’s priority | The Tribune

Newly-appointed Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat today assured of implementing the Namami Gange project being funded by the Central government with transparency.

Trivendra Singh Rawat was here to pay obeisance to the Ganga and perform Ganga Aarti at the sanctum sanctorum of Braham Kund, Har-ki-Pauri.

Taking a pledge to contribute to the Swachh Bharat and Clean Ganga drive, the CM said his government would focus on these two aspects.

The CM assured of providing jobs, health facilities, boosting religious tourism, agriculture, horticulture and better infrastructure in the state.

He also took part in a cleanliness drive at August Kranti Bhawan-CCR Ganga ghat near Har-ki-Pauri. He directed officials that such drives should be initiated at more ghats and mela zone where garbage and waste was littered.

Senior leader and state BJP president Ajay Bhatt said people had elected BJP government with a majority and the state government would try to live up to their expectations. Cabinet minister Madan Kaushik emphasised need of cleaning the Ganga, saying under Namami Gange, a major step had been taken by the centre and state government would ensure that the implementation of the project was carried out in a time-bound manner.

Mayor Manoj Garg also carried out a cleanliness drive along with CM Rawat, Ajay Bhatt and Madan Kaushik.
