Kalahasti temple hikes VIP ticket price to Rs 500 | Times of India

TIRUPATI: The famous temple of Srikalahasteeswara at Srikalahasti will allow devotees for a special darshan on purchase of 500 INR tickets. The temple receives about one lakh devotees on the Mahasivaratri, which falls on Friday.

In view of the heavy turnout of devotees on the auspicious day, the temple management has decided to introduce special darshan of the presiding deity, Lord Siva.

Devotees should produce their Aadhaar card, PAN card or any other authorised identity proof to get the special darshan tickets. “If the locals buy this ticket a day before the Sivaratri, it will be sold at a concession price of 250,” officials said.

The management is keen that devotees in regular darshan can get the darshan with in 20 minutes of standing in the queue. The special darshan queue will begin from Daskhina Gopuram.

Officials have shelved the idea of providing Mahalaghu darshan on the lines of the one followed by the TTD. However, Laghu darshan will be available for devotees. The management will not allow bursting of crackers during festivities.

However, the management has not yet decided on issuing passes to the members of the temple trust board. The shri ne will be decorated with festoons and colourful illumination. Special arrangements will be made for devotees. More number of toilets have been opened for the convenience of women devotees, officials said. Apart from the staff working at the Srikalahasti temple, voluntary organisations will extend support in providing basic facilities like water to the devotees.

The police are making tight security arrangements to avoid untoward incidents during Sivaratri this year.
