Ujjain: Devotees seek blessings from Mahakal, take ‘selfies’ at temple courtyard – FPJ

Ujjain: Thousands of devotees from all over India flocked to the city to get a glimpse of Mahakaleshwar on the occasion of Mahashivratri on Friday.

Most of the devotees got queued up for the general entry from early morning hours and did not mind the wait of around two hours to reach the new Nandi Hall. After the darshan, devotees gathered in the temple courtyard to soak in the spirit of the festivity. Most of them were seen clicking selfies with friends and families.

DEVOTEES’ EXPERIENCE

“I came from Chhindwara to take the blessings of Mahakaleshwar on this auspicious day of Shivratri. It took me around one hour to reach the Nandi hall from general gate. Devotees were chanting Mahadev’s name all through the way which made the ambience very spiritual.”

Akash Bandewar, Student

“Darshan was smooth, arrangements were nice but what was most captivating was the atmosphere in the temple and the energy of devotees who came from faraway places. Despite standing 1.5-hours in queue, no one is complaining.”

Shakti Yadav, Student, Chhindwara

“Didn’t have to walk very long to reach the temple and finished darshan in less than two hours. I must say the administration has put sincere efforts in the arrangements. Cops were everywhere, so security was also good. People are taking selfies with friends and families after darshan, ambience is cheerful even after long wait in queues.”

Ravi Sharma, Student, Indore

“I must say that crowd management was very good as I noticed a very large number of cops deployed in the temple and temple area. We had the darshan in just 1.5 hour. The queue did not stop at any point.”

Ravi Singh, Student, Indore

“This is my first visit to Mahakaleshwar temple on Shivratri and I feel blessed to be here today. I have come with my family and we all are impressed by the darshan and security arrangements. The police were helpful. Initially I was a bit afraid of the crowd but it took us 1.5 hours from general entry to reach the Nandi hall. We have travelled the whole night and reached Ujjain in early morning so was a bit tired but given the dense crowd, darshan was smooth and when we finally finished it, our whole exhaustion just blew away.
