Ujjain: Mahashivratri will be celebrated on February 13 in Mahakaleshwar temple. Mahakaleshwar Temple Management Committee (MTMC) administrator Awadhesh Sharma held a meeting on Monday to decide on the date of Mahashivratri, during which all priests agreed to on celebrate it on February 13. All festivals in the Mahakaleshwar temple, are celebrated according to the Gwalior ‘panchang’.
The Shiv Navratri will begin from February 5 and Shivratri will be celebrated on February 13. The Bhasmarti which is done only once a year in the afternoon will be done at 12 pm on February 14. During the meeting, MTMC member priest Pradeep Guru, Vibhash Upadhyay, additional administrator Satish Vyas, Preeti Chauhan, Dilip Garud, SP Dixit, RK Tiwari, Pt Vijay Shankar, Pt Ashok Sharma, Pt Lokendra Vyas and Pt Kamalkant Sharma were present.
Worship pattern changed due to lunar eclipse
Worship patterns have been changed at the Mahakaleshwar Temple, due to lunar eclipse on Wednesday. According to ancient traditions, a Bhog of sugar will be offered to Lord Mahakal during the morning and afternoon ‘aartis’. The evening worship will be done from 4.30 pm to 5 pm. Touching of the idol after that will be prohibited. After the eclipse ends, ‘bhog’ will be offered to Lord Mahakal
