Trial run of the new wooden car of Arulmigu Sugavaneswarar Temple held

A large number of devotees from different parts of the western districts participated in the trial run of the new wooden car of Arulmigu Sugavaneswarar Temple here on Monday.

The car festival of the temple was not held for the last two years, as the old car had worn out.

Special yagasala pujas in connection with the trial run of the new car commenced on Saturday.

Vigneswara puja, fourth kala yaga sala puja, deeparadanai were performed in the early hours of Monday.

Mahakumbabishekam for the new car was done at 6 a.m. and the devotees pulled the car through Tiruvalluvar statue, Fort Mariamman Temple, first agraraharam, Sinna kadai veedhi, Kannigaparameswari and reached the car street in front of Rajaganapathi Temple.

Namakkal

The trial run of the renovated car of Arulmigu Narasimhar Temple in Namakkal town was held on Sunday. The car festival is usually held in the temple with much fanfare in the Tamil month of Panguni. The festival was not held for the last three years due to the poor condition of the existing car.

The HR and CE renovated the car.

V. Saroja, Social Welfare Minister, inaugurated the trial run.

Ara Arularasu, Superintendent of Police; P.R. Sundaram, MP; K.P.P. Baskar and C. Chandrasekaran, both MLAs; were present.
