Miscreants attempted to break open the doors of the Hasanamba temple in Hassan on Sunday night but could not take away valuables. The incident came to light on Monday morning.
The temple is opened only during the annual festival held in October-November.
Hassan police reached the temple, located in the heart of the city, and began investigation.
