The administration has already started its exercise to strengthen internet network in and around Gangotri Shrine area.
First Ganga Aarti at Gangotri will take place on Akshya Tritiya, the day Chardham pilgrimage starts every year. Thereafter, it will become daily feature till the end of the season in October.
“Gangotri shrine is known as one of the most pious pilgrimage centers for Hindus mainly for being origin place of the river Ganga. Live telecast of Ganga Aarti at more than 1,158 meters above sea level will attract tourists from all over the work. We have directed the BSNL to start the work for strengthening internet connectivity in order execute the plan unhindered,” said Uttarakhashi district magistrate Ashish Shrivastava.
Shrivastava, on whose initiative the decision was taken, said bidding for seeking the service of religious channels will be started in March.
Daily Ganga Aarti will also lead to increase in flow of tourists by many folds. First Aarti will be shaped up as a part of Namami Gange Project of the union government. However, more formalities have to be worked out in association with Gangotri Temple Committee that has also agreed in principle to support the decision” he said.
Meanwhile, the Gangotri Temple Committee has welcomed the decision. “The initiative will not only generate a new feeling among devotees but also lead to strengthen their faith on the Ganga and ultimately result into an urge for keeping the holy river clean down the stream,” said Suresh Semwal, the secretary of Gangotri temple committee.
