A large number of devotees participated in the ‘Guru Purnima’ celebrations across the city on Tuesday. They performed special poojas, panchamruta abhishekam, palabhishekam (milk sprinkling with chanting mantras) and prayed for fulfillment of their wishes, by seeking blessings of the Guru.
The festival, which is traditionally celebrated by Hindus, Jains and Buddhists, is a mark of people’s respect to their teachers and express their gratitude.
The celebrations included Maha Ganapathy Homam, the ‘Samskriti Pooja,’ where students of Amrita Vidyalayam performed paduka pooja to their parents which was followed by the ‘Maha Sarvaiswarya Yagnam.’
In the satsang, Brahmachari Raghnath Swami said, “Immense faith and surrender to guru helps the devotees to purify their hearts and make them selfless. Such selfless people become a boon to the world.”
