A host of cultural programmes would be held at Rajangana as part of the Sri Krishna Janmashtami celebrations here from August 21 to 27.
Addressing presspersons here on Saturday, Vishwesha Tirtha Swami of Paryaya Pejawar Mutt, said that the cultural programmes would begin with the staging of the Yakshagana episode “Subhadra Kalyana” by artistes of Badagu Thittu School of Yakshagana here on August 21. All the cultural events would begin at 7.30 p.m.
The cultural programmes on other six days are: flute-violin jugalbadi by Kumaresh and Ronu Majumdar on August 22; Bharatnatyam by Padma Subramaniam on August 23; Carnatic concert by Unnikrishnan on August 24; flute recital by Mysore Chandankumar on August 25; Bharatnatyam by Revati Srinivasan on August 26; and a ballet Sudhama Charitre by Rama Bharadwaj and partyon August 27.
There will be lectures by writers and scholars from at 5.30 p.m. at Rajangana on five days from August 21 to 25.
The seer said that the Sri Krishna Janmashtami festival would be celebrated at the Sri Krishna Mutt/Temple here both on August 24 and 25 due to differences in the “panchangas.”
The important ritual of “arghya pradhana” to Lord Krishna would be held at the temple at 11.48 p.m. on August 24 and 25.
The Sri Krishna Leelotsava festival, popularly known as Vittal Pindi, would be celebrated on August 26, the seer said.
