Seer opposes govt plan to take back Gokarna temple – The New Indian Express

BENGALURU: Raghaveshwara Bharati Swami of Ramachandrapura Math on Monday opposed any move by the state government to reconsider its decision of transfering the Gokarna temple to the math. It was handed over to the math after proper investigation of facts and it was not an act of kind donation by the government as it has always belonged to the Math, he said.

Speaking to reporters at Sri Ramasharama, Girinagar, in the city, he opposed the Advocate General’s remarks in the High Court on government reconsidering its decision on transfer of the temple to the math.

“Everything is going on in a transparent manner and the ambiance of the holy place has been restored. Lots of money has been spent by Math towards Gokarna, not even a penny from Gokarna has been utilised for the cause of math,” he said.

“All the pilferage which had been occurring in Gokarna has been checked and systematic audit and procedures have been followed now. It also is going to be ISO certified and the international ISO standards are going to be implemented,” he added.

After the handing over of Gokarna, not only has the administration and environment been cleansed, but the entry fee for Gokarna has been abolished. Food is being served to devotees for the first time in the history of Gokarna, he added.
