Fourth temple theft in 2 weeks

The ransacked temple at Sarita Vihar Colony in the Haibowal area

Two masked thieves broke into the Shiv Ashray Maaguch Dham temple situated at Sarita Vihar Colony in the Haibowal area and decamped with around 4 kg of silver parasols and ornaments of idols.

Raghav Chhabra, a member of the temple management, said the incident came to light when a sewadar, Monish Kumar, found the lock of the main door of the temple broken. The entire theft was captured in the CCTV cameras installed in the temple.

Footage shows the thieves entered the temple at around 12.30 am last night. Two thieves scaled the boundary wall of the temple to enter the premises. While one of them broke the lock of the main gate, the other switched off the lights. They stole silver parasols and ornaments worth about Rs 4 lakh.

The Haibolwal police were informed about the incident. The police registered a case and launched investigation to identify the thieves. Around four temples have been targeted by thieves in the past over two weeks. The police have solved none of the case so far.
