A hundi that was found outside the temple at Kallahalli inK.R. Pet taluk of Mandya district on Monday.
The alleged burglary at the historical Bhoo Varahaswamy Temple at Kallahalli in K.R. Pet taluk of the district on Monday is shrouded in mystery.
The three hundis (cash boxes) of the temple, according to local residents, were found abandoned outside the temple early on Monday. They said the locks of the main door were also found damaged.
Tension prevailed for a while as hundreds of people gathered outside the temple demanding an inquiry against the priests.
Surprisingly, the police and the temple priest refused the acknowledge that such an incident took place.
“We do not have information about this incident. Also, no one has approached us with a complaint,” H.N. Janardhan, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Nagamangala subdivision), told

According to senior officers at the K.R. Pet Rural police station, the temple priest, Srinivas Raghava, has denied the occurrence of the alleged burglary.
Meanwhile, Gayatri Revanna, vice-president, Mandya Zilla Panchayat, told presspersons that she will file a complaint against the priest.
The police should conduct an investigation into similar incidents reported in the earlier months and should provide security to the temple, she demanded.
