Aadi Rang Mahotsav: Vibrant cultures under one roof | Telangana Today

Hyderabad: Colourful slices from different nooks and corners of the country came together to enliven the Saturday evening at Lalitha Kala Thoranam in Public Gardens.

From Sikkim to Nagaland to Mizoram, apart from Telangana, tribal artistes from 18 States took part in the cultural extravaganza at the venue for the second day on Saturday. On presentation were 28 different tribal art forms involving over 600 artistes from different States offering a rare glimpse of their culture for the city.

Every dance form was well received by the audience who cheered each presentation and more cheering was in store when artistes from Telangana took the stage to perform Lambadi, Gussadi, Kommu Koya and Oggu Dolu dances.

Every tribal dance form has a history and different dance forms are performed for different occasions. For all those who are interested in tribal art forms, Aadi Rang Mahotsav is being organised at Lalitha Kala Thoranam which is the right place to learn more and enjoy the shows.

Department of Culture, Telangana, in association with National School of Drama is organising the event, which concludes on Sunday. The event is free for all and commences at 6.30 pm and continues till 9.30 pm.

Pitch for NSD branch

The Department of Culture has appealed to the National School of Drama (NSD), New Delhi, to establish a regional branch in Hyderabad. NSD has a regional branch in Bengaluru.

The idea of establishing a regional branch in Hyderabad with focus on Telugu for promotion of theatre and theatre groups, will help the student community, besides theatre fraternity, said M Harikrishna, director, Department of Culture.
