Ahead of Uttar Pradesh election next year, Ram Temple is back on BJP cards. After Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma finalised land for Ramayan Museaum at Ayodhya, now Rajya Sabha MP and staunch temple supporter Subramanian Swamy filed an urgent plea in Supreme Court asking the matter to be heard on a day to day basis.

Swamy tweeted, “PVN (Narsimha Rao) government in an affidavit to SC in 1994 swore that mandir will be built if proved mandir pre-existed. ASI proved that.” And now in a letter to the Prime Minister, he has sought the government help in regard to not supporting his day to day hearing.

SWAMY’S LETTER TO MODI

Swamy in the letter to Modi said, “I request you to direct the concerned law officers in this matter to support my prayer for listing the matter for day to day hearing. We will strive to build the Ram Temple by legal means.”

Swamy, in his petition had admitted that the matter could not be solved with force and hence had urged the Supreme Court to take action as the matter had been pending for 6 years. Swami said that a temple and a masjid could not be considered on par in sacredness as the latter is not an important part of Islam which he claimed was according to the majority judgment of a Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court.

But with Swami seeking Modi’s support, all eyes are on what line does the government take.
