Mylapore temple takes back land – Times of India

CHENNAI: Authorities of Mylapore Kapaleeswarar temple have reclaimed 279sq ft off Anna Salai. The market value of the land is 20 lakh. Pradeep, the occupant of the land, did not pay the fair rent fixed by the temple committee. “Several notices asking him to pay the rent and arrears did not evoke any response,” said a press release issued by the temple administration. Following this the administration sought sanction from the Hindu Religious Charitable (HR&CE) department to retrieve the land.

On Thursday, a team of temple officials, with the help of police, evicted Pradeep and sealed the premises. Mylapore temple has land across the city, a majority of it on Greenways Road.
