The contentious issue of ‘Love Jihad’ has rocked the state of Gujarat. A SMS has gone viral on the social networking platform WhatsApp, enticing Muslim youths to marry girls belonging to other religions in return of cash reward.
The message circulated by ‘Students of Muslim Youth Forum’ encourages Muslim boys to trap girls from other communities in love and tie the knot.
The message says: “If a Muslim youth marries a Hindu Brahmin girl, he would be awarded with Rs 5 lakhs, similarly if someone gets hitched with a Sikh Punjabi girl, he would be given Rs 7 lakhs.”
“If the girl is from Kshatriya Hindu community, the cash reward would be Rs 4.5 lakhs, Gujarat Brahmin girl Rs 6 lakhs, Punjabi Hindu Rs 6 lakhs, Christian Roman Cathlolic Rs 4 lakhs, Christian Protestant Rs 3 lakhs, Jain Rs 3 lakhs, Gujarati Kutch girl Rs 3 lakhs.”
The message further gives four addresses from where the Muslim youth, who successfully marries a girl from another religion, can collect their reward.
It also mentions 11 phone numbers.
Meanwhile, the Vadodara Police has asked people to ignore such messages and apprise the authorities in case they receive it on their cell phones.
A probe has begun into the matter.
Although this has been the first instance of such offers being made in Gujarat, there have been several such reports from Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Kerala and Uttar Pradesh are said to have properly organised rackets for the same which provide Muslim youth with vehicles, clothes and all other necessary supplies to impress a Hindu girl. In Uttar Pradesh, the Muslim youth are given rewards of over 3 lakh rupees. The racket in Kerala is the one controlling the movements in Tamil Nadu. Recently, Popular Front of India (PFI) put out a poster in Tamil Nadu offering 5 lakhs to Muslim youth who could make a Tamil Brahmin girl fall for him.
Although reports of love jihad are increasing day by day, the administration seems to be not taking much action.
